Bringing Inclusive AI Learning to Buddy Up
AI Activity Leader
July 2026
Through SparkMind AI Education, I led the AI learning portion of North Star Special Needs Society’s Buddy Up program.
During the two-hour session, I worked closely with two participants and introduced basic ideas such as what artificial intelligence is, where we encounter it in everyday life, and what kinds of experiences it can help create.
I used simple explanations, demonstrations, and AI-assisted games. Instead of following one fixed lesson plan, I adapted the activities to the participants’ interests and comfort levels.
My Role
- Led the AI education component.
- Explained AI using accessible everyday examples.
- Guided demonstrations and interactive activities.
- Adapted the session to individual interests and learning needs.
- Created a supportive and low-pressure learning environment.
What I Learned
This experience showed me that technology education should begin with the learner, not the technology. A lesson becomes more meaningful when it connects with someone’s interests and gives them enough space to explore at their own pace.
